Biography

Nabijon Kasimov is an Uzbek Diplomat and International Economic Expert. He is the Head of the German-Uzbek Business Cooperation Bureau “DUWK Büro”. He served as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, and the Czech Republic from 2017 to 2023. He also held the positions of Chairman of the Association of Private Tourist Organizations of Uzbekistan and was the Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan.

Nabijon Kasimov graduated from high school in Tashkent in 1988 with a medal. From 1988 to 1993, he studied international economic relations at the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies. From 1997 to 1998, he attended the Academy of State and Social Construction under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, where he earned a master’s degree in international economic relations.

From 1993 to 1999, he worked at the foreign trade company “Uzmarkazimpex” under the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations of Uzbekistan, where he was involved in the export of cotton fibers. In 1996, he received training at the International Cotton Institute in Memphis, USA. Additionally, from 1996 to 1999, he completed internships at several international companies and commodity exchanges, including the New York Cotton Exchange (New York, USA), the Liverpool Cotton Exchange (Liverpool, UK), and the Bremer Baumwollbörse (Bremen, Germany).

In August 1999, Nabijon Kasimov was appointed as the Second Secretary at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Germany, where he worked until 2003, reaching the position of Trade and Economic Advisor.

From 2003 to 2004, he led a group coordinating the activities of foreign trade companies in the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

After the establishment of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan in 2004, he was elected Deputy Chairman for Foreign Economic Cooperation at its first congress. From 2008 to 2013, he was a member of the board and an advisor to the chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan on the development of foreign economic relations.

In 2013, he was elected Chairman of the Association of Private Tourist Organizations of Uzbekistan.

From 2017 to 2023, he served as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Germany. He was also appointed as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan (concurrently) to Switzerland (2018-2023), Sweden (2018-2023), and the Czech Republic (2019-2023).

On November 28, 2017, presented credentials to the President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier. On August 29, 2018, presented credentials to the President of Switzerland, Alain Berset. On December 13, 2018, presented credentials to the King of Sweden, Carl XVI Gustaf. On February 21, 2019, in the city of Prague, presented credentials to the President of the Czech Republic, Miloš Zeman.

Since March 2024, Nabijon Kasimov has been the Head of the German-Uzbek Business Cooperation Bureau “DUWK Büro”.

In 2020, by the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, he was awarded the medal “For Faithful Service.”
